Our view: changes usually reach new customers first, existing customers later. Heroku, Cloud9 and Fly.io fit the pattern; no study measures it.
Moving off Opsgenie
Atlassian's destination is Jira Service Management, where Opsgenie's alerting and on-call features now live. Existing customers can use Opsgenie until April 5, 2027; after that it shuts down and data not moved is deleted.
Atlassian, Opsgenie migration
Our view: plan for the deadline as a migration project. Export alert rules, schedules and escalation policies early, and compare alternatives before picking the default.
What to do
- Keep a written exit plan per platform: destination, data export path, rough effort.
- Prefer portable parts: containers, standard Postgres, your own registrar and DNS.
- Watch vendor blogs for "new customers only" changes. Treat them as an early warning for existing customers.
Questions

- Is Heroku being discontinued?
